HeartCode PALS Part 1 is a self-directed, interactive, CD-based product that uses eSimulation technology to present 12 interactive, realistic hospital-based, pediatric patient cases that teach healthcare providers to evaluate and manage seriously ill infants and children. Interacting with the program, students assess each patient, formulate a treatment plan based on the PALS algorithm and the 2005 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC, and provide treatment in a virtual setting.
Available 24/7, allowing students the opportunity to learn on their own time, at their own pace, with instant feedback and debriefing.
Proprietary eSimulation technology allows physiological modeling that reflects students’ treatment decisions.
Approved for Continuing Education Credits for nurses and emergency medical services personnel.
Nurses: This program (090701-TX-IS) has been approved by the ENA for 11.74 contact hours (clinical).
This continuing nursing education activity was approved by the Emergency Nurses Association, an accredited approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
Emergency Medical Services: This continuing education activity is approved by the American Heart Association, an organization accredited by the Continuing Education Coordinating Board for Emergency Medical Services (CECBEMS), for 12.00 Advanced CEHs, activity number 09-AMHA-F3-0058.
Access to course for 1 year from initial license activation, allowing for student refresher options Includes a PDF version of the PALS provider manual.
There are three steps in order to receive your PALS completion card:
Step 1: Successfully complete the Part 1 cognitive portion of the program including patient scenarios and multiple choice exam
Step 2: Successfully complete skills practice and a skills test (Parts 2 and 3)at a Competent Provider testing location with an AHA PALS Instructor. Call (216) 905-5231 (216) 905-5231 to schedule a skills validation after you complete part 1.
Step 3: Receive an official AHA PALS Provider course completion card
The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in BLS, ACLS, and PALS and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the American Heart Association. Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the Association.
